Celsius athletes Angeles Burke and Chad Demchik have been competing in National Physique Committee (NPC) in hopes of obtaining their International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) Pro card. At the 2013 NPC Team Universe Professional Qualifier these two dedicated Celsius athletes did just that! Celsius is happy to announce that Angeles Burke is officially an IFBB Bikini Pro and Chad Demchik is now and IFBB Pro in the Men’s Physique division. The road has not been easy or short for these two competitors. Both have been competing in the amateur level also known as the NPC for 2 years.
After qualifying for nationals, both of these athletes took time to perfect their physiques as well as compete in other top level shows to gain exposure and momentum leading up to the 2013 Team Universe in Teaneck, New Jersey. While there is no guarantee that you will participate in a professional qualifier show and walk away with a Pro Card, it is no surprise to us here at Celsius, Inc. that these two disciplined individuals walked away as winners. Below you will find brief stories on our new IFBB Pros. Make sure to check back and follow Angeles Burke and Chad Demchik’s journey in the IFBB. Way to go Angeles and Chad!
Over the past few years, I have learned that no matter how bad everyone else wants something for you, if you do not want it- it will never happen.
In 2007, I began my fitness journey. For years I heard stories about my father running for miles at a time without stopping. This motivated me to get into running. Each time I came home from college, I would go on long runs with my dad. This made working out an enjoyable activity for me. In 2009, I ran my first marathon with my father, the first major milestone in my fitness career. After a hip injury due to marathon training, I began looking into strength training. I would regularly attend group fitness classes and would soak up all of the information that I could about new moves and how to train your body effectively.
In December of 2010, I bought an Oxygen magazine at the airport while traveling home to South Florida. It was there that I saw Bikini Pros posing at an awards ceremony for a Professional Bikini International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) competition. This was something that I had never seen before! The women were sexy, strong, and defined. I had always been interested in modeling, and now I was into fitness…what a perfect combination! After doing some research, I set my goal the very next week to begin training for my first National Physique Committee (NPC) Bikini competition. I joined a local Crossfit gym (Headhunters in Tuscaloosa, AL) and had professional training. Ever since then I have been hooked to competing.
I am currently trained by Shannon Dey founder of Team Bombshell Fitness. They have helped me to sculpt a physique I am proud of. As of July 2013, I am happy to say that I am now and IFBB Bikini Pro. After having competed in several large regional shows in order to get exposure, I obtained my Pro status at the 2013 Team Universe Pro Qualifier in Teaneck, New Jersey. This has been such an amazing blessing and I cannot wait to see what the future brings my way! I have a passion for this industry that is unreal. I enjoy the travel, busy schedules, ‘living at the gym’, sweating like a pig, and meeting other like minded people. I am still young in the fitness industry- I cannot wait to see what opportunities will come my way!
Since I was a young boy I was fascinated with action stars such as Arnold, and Sylvester Stallone. I then started playing sports that demanded healthy eating and exercise to improve my on field performance. When I started training, I became addicted to how I felt emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. When I wanted to take my fitness to the next level, I began to train for my first bodybuilding competition in the NPC. From this, I learned that I loved the training and dieting that comes along with bodybuilding but my body has more of an aesthetic look. When the Men’s Physique division began, I made the switch and worked toward a more aesthetic look. Being an all natural athlete, many people couldn't imagine me obtaining my Pro Card. But in your imagination, anything can happen right?
I began to visualize my goals of being an IFBB Pro. I then set goals in writing on how I was going to obtain Pro status. I had to learn how to overcome fear of failure and procrastination. From that point, I started to compete in local competitions in the Men’s Physique division in my home town of Michigan. Every show I made sure to improve and bring a better package to the stage. After I qualified for nationals two years ago, I competed in 11 competitions! I had a hard time placing well at times, but I never gave up and I had to really sit back and let my fear of possible failure be a motivator, rather than something that would hinder my future conquest. I had to make small changes and tweaks after every show until finally I obtained my IFBB Pro card at the NPC Team Universe.
From my experience and training, I have learned that even the most successful people in the world have countless failures. The key is how you respond to setbacks or disappointments. Don't take no for an answer! I really could not have become an IFBB Pro without the support of my family. They believe in me and support me no matter what. I also want to thank Celsius for supporting me in every show. I could not have asked for a better team and teammates!
